Aloe vanbalenii, also called Van Balen's Aloe is a stemless succulent forming a rosette to 30 - 60 cm tall by 90 cm feet wide. It has long gracefully-twisting deeply-channeled yellow-green leaves with rusty red edges - the entire leaf is often red if grown in full sun and kept dry in winter but will be bright green in the shade. The yellow to orange-yellow flowers are on unbranched spikes in late winter to early spring.
