Charge the battery at least 8 hours before first time using.
When you are in the auto mode, your setting choices are:
LUX -there are 2 icons, sun and moon. This is the setting to choose how dark or light it is outside for the light to start coming on.
SENS -this is how close or far away the person needs to be before the sensor will detect it. It can detect up to 32 foot away.
TIME - this is how long you want the light to stay on once it detects motion. It has the option of 15 seconds to 7 minutes. The controls are not marked by minutes, so you just have to guess at how long each setting will last. If you are placing the light up high, I would suggest you play around with it until you have everything set just perfectly and then mount the light.
