The most common type of tip to use for spraying latex paint is a 515 spray tip. The first digit represents the fan size and in this case, "4" means that when you multiply it by 2, you get an 8-Inch fan size. Keep in mind that this is when you're spraying 12-Inches from the surface. The last two digits represent the orifice size and in this case, "13" means that paint has a 13-thousandths opening to go through. Orifice size directly relates to how many gallons per minute of material is passed through the tip. The 413 tip is generally good at spraying thinner materials. It's important to note that as the tip wears, the orifice will enlarge. It's important to remember this when choosing the right tip for your project. The 413 spray tip uses a 50-mesh filter.
