iWISE QUAD is an advanced version of the best-selling COSMoS PQ-Quad with greater detection capabilities and keener false alarm immunity. The Risco iWISE Quad PIR Motion Sensor has two independent dual-element PIR sensors and processing channels to reduce false alarms and improve catch performance in hostile environments. iWISE QUAD incorporates an improved lens design and Intelligent Digital Signal Processing methods that automatically adjust the alarm threshold and pulse count verification according to the actual event occurring. The challenge facing all detector manufacturers is where to set the threshold for alarm. Too high and the detector is not responsive enough. Too low and the detector sounds false alarms. The solution is to take into account as many factors as possible and to adjust the threshold level in real-time according to the event taking place. iWISE Digital Signal Processing algorithms take into account environmental and intruder behavior factors in order to make an intelligent alarm decision. Among these are True Temperature Compensation Frequency Compensation and Automatic pulse count adjustment. How PIR Detection Works PIR Passive Infrared is a passive sensing technology meaning that the detector does not emit any IR radiation. The radiation source is the human body and all the objects in the field of view of the detector which emit thermal heat radiation. The thermal energy reaches the PIR sensor via optical means such as lenses or mirrors which are structured in segments. A PIR sensor consists typically of dual IR Infra Red elements that convert IR energy to voltage. Each segment in the optics with two dual sensing elements in the sensor creates two fields of view collecting the IR radiation.
