The Steel City 478 is a 4-Inch pre-galvanized steel square box surface cover. This cover is raised 1/8-Inch and is used when you are installing one 4-wire twist lock device with a center opening of 1.4-Inches. Locking connectors use curved blades. Once pushed into the receptacle, the plug is twisted and its now-rotated blades latch into the receptacle. To unlatch the plug, the rotation is reversed. The locking coupling makes for a more reliable connection in commercial and industrial settings, where vibration or incidental impact could disconnect a non-locking connector. Locking connectors are designed so the different voltages and current ratings can not be accidentally intermitted. When installing an outlet box it is required by code to close the box with a cover, so that the wires are not exposed. This cover comes individually packaged with all the necessary screws for mounting.
